I still occasionally use the broken Selmer, but only when I’m sitting on the couch and want to practice fingerings in silence. My interest in learning the flute didn’t fade so I then upgraded to something new and shiny. I had gotten the most out of it that I could and learned the basics. Repairing the entire flute didn’t seem worth it at this point. It no longer stayed in place and after five minutes of playing it would be horribly out of tune. ![]() I had some minor leaks that were solved by applying slightly more pressure on two keys - for me it wasn’t enough to justify it getting repaired as I was still learning basics like fingerings, sight reading, and octaves.Įventually the crown and cork gave out. ![]() It never occurred to me that I might need to replace parts on the flute.
